CECH voted!

This semester the CECH Library wanted to know your thoughts. You helped us name fidget slugs, determine the best book-to-screen adaptation, and even answered burning questions like ‘is water wet?’ Check out all the ways CECH Voted this Spring Semester:

March Madness

Popular books battled it out throughout the month of March to determine: what is the best book-to-screen adaptation? With surprising early round eliminations of fan favorites like Holes and Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games claimed the prize, narrowly beating out Harry Potter. Disagree? Check back next March for the next round of CECH Library March Madness!

Fidget Slug Naming

The CECH Library will be unveiling a NEW Study & Focus Tools Collection in Fall 2025. In preparation of this addition, we needed your help to name the official mascots for the collection- our fidget slugs. You submitted possible names, voted on your top 2, and then determined which name for each slug based on vibes. Passionate opinions on linguistics and color theory were shared, backstories were created, and finally we have: Gleeb, Glorb, and Grape Juice, the CECH Library Fidget Slugs. Visit them this fall in our study room!

Our slugs: Grape Juice (purple), Glorb (white) and Gleeb (rainbow).

Is Water Wet?

Each semester, the CECH Library engages students in community conversation through prompt posters scattered throughout the space. This semester, we asked you the viral question- is water wet? Over the course of the semester, over 80 votes were submitted including some explanations and clarifications. The final result? 41 say yes, water is wet, 38 say no, and 2 say it really depends.

4th Floor Chairs

Voting continues for our 4th floor chair selection! Get your vote in by the end of finals week to help us determine which chairs will be purchased for our newly renovated 4th floor, opening in the Fall semester. At the moment, the race is tight with Chair A taking a small lead in “comfort” while Chair B is the strong favorite for “library vibes”!
