Navigating the Pandemic – A Tale of Two Semesters
The 2019 fall semester was business as usual with students, faculty, researchers and staff using library facilities to study, access collections, seek reference assistance, participate in library workshops, print a paper or simply grab a cup of coffee between classes. Librarians and staff provided instruction, manned service desks, collected and made library materials available, planned exhibits and events and collaborated with faculty and researchers to translate information and data into knowledge. The New Way(s) of Work
With the start of fall semester, UC Libraries re-opened library facilities to the UC community in a limited, phased approach to ensure social distancing. The priority remains to provide access to library resources to the extent possible while maintaining the health and safety of students, faculty and staff. At this time, all library locations but one are open; however, use and access looks very different from past semesters. With limited exceptions, there is no browsing of library materials in the stacks. Since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses and organizations worldwide have sought new and innovative ways to continue to cater to their users and provide the best possible services in a truly unprecedented situation. UC Libraries’ Click & Collect Service Offers Access to Library Print Materials
The University of Cincinnati Libraries is providing users with access to print collection materials in order to support UC teaching and research. The Click & Collect retrieval and pickup service allows UC users to request print library materials in the Library Catalog for pickup at designated library locations. Requests made by 9am Wednesdays will be available for pickup between noon-4pm on Thursdays. Due dates have been automatically set for August 10. When searching for print materials in the Library Catalog, items with the status of “Held By Library” are available for request.
