Feeling rebellious? Come to Triceracopter on the 4th floor of Langsam Library at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30 for a special Banned Books Trivia Night!
Each year, attempts are made to ban books from libraries and schools. Some of the world’s greatest literary minds, like Orwell, Salinger, Ginsberg, Morrison and many more, have been subjects of fights for the intellectual freedom to read their challenging works.
Exercise your freedom to read Banned Books. Form a team of 5 friends, come celebrate these important voices, and show us what you know about Banned Books. There will be four rounds played based on various genres, snacks will be provided, and the 1st and 2nd place teams will receive fabulous prizes. Come join in the fun, and remember – Enter at your own risk!
This Langsam Connect event is being held in recognition of Banned Books Week 2015, September 27-October 3. Sponsored by the American Library Association, Banned Books Week promotes awareness of challenges to library materials and celebrates freedom of speech. Check out an exhibit of Banned Books on display in front of the Reference Consultation Office on the 4th floor of Langsam Library.
