The University of Cincinnati Office of Public Relations records (1972-2015) document the duties of the office and showcase periodicals created to spread information about university news and events.

The majority of the collection includes publicity files related to the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning such as newspaper and magazine articles, press releases, projects, events, correspondence, and notes. The office also collected non-University of Cincinnati publications and periodicals when the University or its students were mentioned.

Periodicals such as Good News from the University of Cincinnati highlight material created and circulated by the office.

Significant events at the University such as the introduction of Affirmative Action, NCAA tournaments, construction of new buildings, students working towards health innovations and urban development, fashion shows, and book publications on African American architects, historical events, art, and fashion from faculty and staff were advertised by the office and included media inquiries.

Members of the Office of Public Relations held significant positions across campus committees and task forces such as the Business Practices Task Force and Marketing, Recruitment, and Retention Task Force. These meeting minutes, notes, and reports were collected by the staff and make up one of the collection’s record series. They also collected studies conducted by students and outside firms that presented findings on a specific topic.
