Library Spotlight: Geology-Mathematics-Physics
The Geology, Mathematics, Physics (GMP) Library provides access to services and collections across the sciences including geology, geography, environmental science, mathematics, physics, astronomy and more. To locate library resources, Research Guides are available as well as a search may be conducted via the Library Catalog. Centrally located on UC’s Uptown campus at 240 Braunstein Hall, the GMP Library provides study and computing spaces, open stacks for browsing science collections and a service desk for reserves and research assistance. By Regina Bourne and June Taylor-Slaughter Student’s name: Hannah Harper Major and academic year: Environmental Studies and Anthropology 2nd Year Name of DEI program and goal: DEI FUNctions for Student Assistants; is a UC Libraries pilot program building from the student assistant Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training with the goal of developing cultural competency skills. How the program works: After library student assistants complete DEI online training they will participate in a variety of learning activities with themes related to such topics as Title IX, disability etiquette/accessibility and systemic racism. UC Libraries’ Click & Collect Service Offers Access to Library Print Materials
The University of Cincinnati Libraries is providing users with access to print collection materials in order to support UC teaching and research. The Click & Collect retrieval and pickup service allows UC users to request print library materials in the Library Catalog for pickup at designated library locations. Requests made by 9am Wednesdays will be available for pickup between noon-4pm on Thursdays. Due dates have been automatically set for August 10. When searching for print materials in the Library Catalog, items with the status of “Held By Library” are available for request. Items from one library location cannot be requested for pickup at another library location. Click & Collect started…

Missing the library? Save an image of the library for your next Zoom meeting background and at least picture yourself there. To save: right click on any image, and choose Save Image As to save to your computer. Load them into your Zoom profile and then look as if you are in the library. The smell of books not included.

Appointments Eira Tansey, digital archivist/records manager in the Archives and Rare Books Library, was appointed to the Society of American Archivists (SAA) Committee on Public Policy, a national committee that does the legwork behind virtually all SAA public policy statements and press releases regarding “record keeping issues in the news” – including recent statements on law enforcement body-camera footage, violations of FOIA and other matters of public record keeping interest.
