UC Libraries’ Click & Collect Service Offers Access to Library Print Materials
The University of Cincinnati Libraries is providing users with access to print collection materials in order to support UC teaching and research. The Click & Collect retrieval and pickup service allows UC users to request print library materials in the Library Catalog for pickup at designated library locations. Requests made by 9am Wednesdays will be available for pickup between noon-4pm on Thursdays. Due dates have been automatically set for August 10. When searching for print materials in the Library Catalog, items with the status of “Held By Library” are available for request. Items from one library location cannot be requested for pickup at another library location. Click & Collect started…

Zoom Backgrounds Make You Look Like You’re in the Library
Missing the library? Save an image of the library for your next Zoom meeting background and at least picture yourself there. To save: right click on any image, and choose Save Image As to save to your computer. Load them into your Zoom profile and then look as if you are in the library. The smell of books not included.

Appointments Eira Tansey, digital archivist/records manager in the Archives and Rare Books Library, was appointed to the Society of American Archivists (SAA) Committee on Public Policy, a national committee that does the legwork behind virtually all SAA public policy statements and press releases regarding “record keeping issues in the news” – including recent statements on law enforcement body-camera footage, violations of FOIA and other matters of public record keeping interest. Digital Scholarship Center Awarded $900,000 Grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded the University of Cincinnati a $900,000 grant in support of the Digital Scholarship Center’s research on machine learning and data visualization in multiple disciplines in the humanities and beyond. Located in the Walter C. Langsam Library, the Digital Scholarship Center (DSC) is a joint venture of UC Libraries and the College of Arts and Sciences. Uncovering a Paleontologist and Philosopher in Langsam Library

In the previous Main Library (now Blegen), he took up residence in a reference room and then near the circulation desk. Langsam Library Exhibit Marks the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation
In 1517, Martin Luther wrote his 95 theses criticizing the practice of indulgences of the Catholic church. He was disturbed by the fact that the faithful were allowed to offer money as penance for their sins. The publication of the 95 theses is considered as the starting point of the Reformation, which marks its 500th anniversary on October 31, 1517, the date long assumed that Luther nailed his theses to the door of the Castle Church at Wittenberg. Update on Digital Scholarship Activities
In September 2016, the University of Cincinnati Libraries, in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S), announced the establishment of UC’s first Digital Scholarship Center. Located in the Walter C. Langsam Library, the Digital Scholarship Center is a collaborative, technology-enabled space for faculty and group work with hardware, software, and tools to support digital scholarship and pedagogy. On campus and in the community, the Digital Scholarship Center serves as a catalyst for creative hybrid forms of research and teaching, bringing together humanistic methods with technical innovations to test paradigms and to create new knowledge at the boundary between disciplines as they are conventionally imagined in the humanities.
