Are you researching a paper and need help finding a quote? Looking for sheet music? Need help connecting to e-books? UC Libraries is available online to assist with research and scholarly work. Our librarians, staff and student workers are also available to answer questions via a new CHAT service.
Have a question? Need help with research? Available at https://libraries.uc.edu/ask, the Libraries CHAT service is available 10am-6pm, Monday-Friday. After hours, users can still go online to ask a reference or circulation question or to e-mail a subject librarian or library staff member directly.
Popular CHAT questions thus far include:
“What do I do with library or OhioLINK books I have out?”
Answer: Keep them. If you are not returning to campus in the fall, books may be returned to the drop slot at the building entrance of Langsam Library.“How can I return my equipment?”
Answer: If you plan on returning in the fall, please keep your materials, including equipment, and return them at that time. If you absolutely must return equipment, please contact Public Safety at (513) 556-1111 in advance and arrange to meet an officer. DO NOT LEAVE equipment items outside of the library.“How do I access a UC owned online article from off campus?”
Answer: Logging into the Proxy Server with your user name and password is recommended to access library resources remotely – https://libraries.uc.edu/off-campus-access.html.“Is interlibrary loan still available?”
Answer: Yes, electronic copies of journal articles and other materials are available from other institutions’ libraries. Visit https://libraries.uc.edu/my-accounts/Interlibrary-loan.html to log in.“Can you help me find research resources for my English Comp paper…locate sheet music in the library catalog…access databases…find e-books?”
Answer: Absolutely!
Response to the CHAT service has been positive. Thus far, the Libraries CHAT service has been utilized mostly by undergraduate students, but it is open to all.
