UC Libraries Support Flagship Undergraduate Joint Program
By Hong Cheng, Global Services Librarian The second cohort of 56 students from the Joint Co-op Institute (JCI) between the University of Cincinnati and Chongqing University (China) became proud Bearcat graduates on May 3, 2019. After five years of hard study and work, 87% of students will continue their academic journey in graduate schools in the United States, China or other countries. I have been with them since their second year and was happy to be part of their academic adventure. For many JCI students, the library has a different cultural context than for domestic students. The programs provided by UC Libraries helped the students to bridge the gap and…

A New Look at Digital Collections

Sabin’s archives about his quest to create the oral polio vaccine, as well as images of Great Houses of Cincinnati from environmental artist Alice Weston. This central, online place would also have exhibits about the 25th General Hospital: Courage and Skill in World War II, Promotion through Playing Cards, and Sublime and Beautiful Mountain Scenery among other captivating subjects. Such place does exist with the recently launched redesign of the Digital Collections & Repositories department website. Available…

Over the past several years the University of Cincinnati, with the support of the Office of the Provost, has made a concerted effort to diversify their faculty positions and hiring practices. This is most evident in the Cluster Hiring Initiative launched in 2014, and the Strategic Hiring Opportunity and Dual Career Assistance programs, which have assisted in the recruiting and funding of faculty across campus since 2013. UC Libraries, in the execution of our Strategic Plan, has embraced these programs and allowed the spirit that drives them – a desire to recruit the best and brightest while cultivating collaborative partnerships with other colleges and departments – to inspire the way…
