CampusGuides: Taking Research Guides to the Next Level

The UC Blue Ash Library, in conjunction with UC Libraries, is transitioning the subject and class guides to a more user-friendly, robust CampusGuides interface during the 2011-2012 academic year. CampusGuides incorporate search boxes, RSS Feeds, embedded media, surveys and can be easily accessed on mobile devices. See the UCBA Psychology guide for an example of a new and improved guide. Same Great Library Info with a New Name (and URL)

The Library website has officially been updated to reflect our new name, the UCBA Library, with a new web address found at www.libraries.uc.edu/ucba.  We have also taken this opportunity to revise our website so that information is easier
to find.

You will also notice changes in other areas including:

  • Online Library Catalog (location holdings for Blue Ash College Library or Blue Ash Stacks, Blue Ash Reference, etc.)

New RefWorks 2.0 Interface

RefWorks rolled out its new 2.0 interface for users on May 16th, 2011. The classic RefWorks interface will continue to be available until January 3, 2012. If you have not yet taken the opportunity to look at RefWorks 2.0, log in to RefWorks and simply click on the “RefWorks 2.0” link on the top of the RefWorks window to switch over to the new interface.

The new RefWorks 2.0 is more visually appealing and a user-friendly than the classic version If you have not already become familiar with the new 2.0 interface, you have until the end of the year to do so.

Ring, Ring! Hotel Counter Bell Display

Marilyn Grismere, Professor Emeritus and an avid bell collector, has made a small portion of her bell collection available to the UC Blue Ash community.  This display, which will be available until December 9th, features beautiful hotel counter bells from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Several types of hotel counter bells can be seen including: Plunger, Twist, Twirl, and Tap bells.

To learn more about the wonderful world of bells, be sure to visit the American Bell Association’s website at www.americanbell.org. The American Bell Association is a friendly group of bell collectors of all ages, youth to senior, who enjoy collecting and learning about bells. Professor Grismere also serves as the contact for the local Bell Study Club of Cincinnati. Contact her via email for more information.

National Arts and Humanities Art Exhibit and Event

October is National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM)! Stop by the Library during normal hours to see the UCBA Faculty Art Exhibition. The goal of the exhibit is to promote the value of the arts and humanities to students, through both academic offerings in the UCBA Liberal Arts Program, and broader cultural offerings that transcend academic disciplines and college departments.
