Celebrate Pi!

Have you ever pondered pi? Does 3.14 and beyond interest you? Whether you find this mathematical constant fascinating or not, you will want to be a part of our Pi Day celebration.

Beginning March 1, sign up to win a free pi t-shirt. The winner’s names will be drawn on March 14. Five shirts will be given away. Stop by the Clermont College Library and fill out an entry with your name, email, and preferred size.

On March 7, our math professors will be passing out pi(e) and coffee in the hallway, in front of the library. If you are up to a challenge, stop by Dr. Malla’s table and write out pi to as many digits as you can remember. There will be three prizes for the top winners.

Try your Hand at Danish Heart Weaving

A tradition in Scandinavia, people often create woven hearts to hang on the Christmas tree. But with Valentine’s Day coming up in February, we thought you might enjoy creating a plaited heart to decorate with or give to a friend.

Stop by the Clermont College Library and enjoy some mindful, hands-on crafting between classes.

Student Library Survey: Enter to Win a $25 Gift Card

Your opinions can build a better library – you just have to share them!

In order to serve you better, we invite you to participate in a 15-question survey regarding Clermont College Library facilities and services. Depending on your answers and your typing ability the survey should take 5 minutes or less to complete.

As a gesture of our thanks, you may provide your contact info at the end of the survey to enter a drawing for one of two $25 gift cards.

Together we can make the Clermont College Library a better space for resources and research.

Sincerely,

Katie Foran-Mulcahy, Library Director

Student Art by Scott Hempleman

Spring semester the Clermont College Library is pleased to exhibit the art of Scott Hempleman.  Scott’s colorful paintings stem from years of drawing fun, imaginative cartoons. Encouraged by his grandfather as well as art teachers at Clermont College, Scott’s vibrant works display a study in color relationship and contrast.

Come check out Scott Hempleman’s work in the library’s Student Art Spotlight through spring 2018.  As always, we thank Fine Arts faculty Kelly Frigard and Kim Taylor for their dedicated support of the Student Art Spotlight since 2015.

Games at the Clermont College Library

Free time between classes? Need to relax for a bit? Stop by the Clermont College Library.

We’ve set up a game table, where you can play Jenga, Battleship, or Connect Four.

Playing games helps decrease stress and can improve critical thinking. Spending time having fun may be the boost needed to get back to that research paper or clear your mind to study for a test.

As the semester winds down, take a half-an-hour and enjoy some healthy competition.

Many of the picture books on our shelves reflect the international literacy initiative.
