The UCBA Library and Student Nurses Association teamed up again this year to coordinate the UCBA Holiday food drive. We surpassed last year’s donations with over 400 pounds of food items collected to help our neighbors in need during the holiday season. All donations were delivered to the Freestore Foodbank. Regular Spring Semester Hours resume Monday, January 9th at 7:30a.

Whether it’s traveling to a library conference or other professional development opportunity or just exploring the world in our free time, we always love to scope out what’s going on in library land.
It was an easy walk to the Mackinac Island Public Library which has an incredible view of Lake Huron. It’s visiting the Library of Congress — the biggest library of them all! It’s time spent at the World War I Museum Library in Kansas City. Perhaps it’s exploring downtown Seattle and grabbing a picture of some cool architecture at the Seattle Public Library. Maybe it’s exploring history at the Boston Public Library or getting a strategy in place for the life-size chessboard at the Kansas City Public Library. And how about trekking halfway around the world to the beautiful Austrian National Library in Vienna!
We’ve seen some awesome libraries across the country and around the world, but there’s still so much to see! Where will Lauren, Michelle and Christian go next on their world library tour?

The UCBA Library will close at 5pm on Wednesday, November 23rd through Sunday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The UCBA Library faculty hosted the UCBA November Faculty Social on Tuesday, November 15th as a follow-up to our first “Whiteboards and Wine” spring faculty social event. We indulged in excellent refreshments and conversation in the Learning & Teaching Center and also had the pleasure of introducing a special guest and new colleague from UC Libraries, Mark Konecny, Scholarly Communications and Digital Publishing Strategist.
It was a perfect excuse to gather and relax with colleagues as we approach the last weeks of the semester!

UCan Help! UCBA Holiday Food Drive
The UCBA Library and the UCBA Student Nurses Association are teaming up again this year to sponsor the UCBA Holiday Food Drive from Monday, November 14th through Friday, December 9th. Look for donation bins in Muntz Hall Lobby and Commons, and Walters Hall Lobby. Have library fines? For each non-perishable food item brought to the UCBA Library Information Desk, $1 will be subtracted from library fines (up to $5).
Not sure what to donate? Check out the Freestore Foodbank web site for a list of accepted and most needed food items: http://freestorefoodbank.org/take-action/make-donation/donate-food/, and don’t forget to check those expiration dates!

UCBA librarians Lauren Wahman, Michelle McKinney and Heather Maloney (accompanied by her family) showed up bright and early to represent the library at the 4th Annual UCBA Blue Ash Dash 5K for Scholarships. The rest of the library staff opted for the ‘sleep in’ option bringing the department to 100% participation. $52,000 was raised at this year’s event with proceeds going to scholarships for students at UC Blue Ash.

The UCBA Library will be CLOSED SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8TH, in order to facilitate a necessary pipe repair in Muntz Hall. The water supply for Muntz Hall will need to be shut off this Saturday October 8. Due to Fire Code and Health & Safety Regulations no one will be permitted into the building. No other buildings on campus will be affected.
