The University of Cincinnati has embarked on a project to build a next-generation UC digital repository, and has joined two new consortia that will greatly advance the creation of this new repository. The initiative is being led by the University of Cincinnati Libraries in partnership with UCIT, the Office of Research, and the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), the initial partners in what is expected to be a university-wide effort.

National Womens Studies Associal Meeting, Nov. 7-10
NWSA: National Women’s Studies Association is holding its annual meeting in the Duke Energy Convention Center, November 7-10. Established in 1977 to promote and support research, teaching, and learning about women and gender, NWSA’s annual conference is the only meeting of its kind within the United States that exclusively features feminist scholarship. Join UC Libraries at the Zoo September 7
UC at the Zoo is BACK – and it’s better than ever! Tickets are only $7 and include parking, entertainment and discounts at food vendors (excluding alcoholic beverages).
Head to the Cincinnati Zoo on Sat., Sept. 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. You’ll find activities including a crossword puzzle and scavenger hunt with prizes, face painting, photo booths, and more; as well as entertainment and discounted food.
This is a private event open only to UC employees and their guests (Zoo memberships do not apply).

Check Out These Library Exhibits
Three new exhibits have been installed in Blegen and Langsam Libraries that feature UC Libraries’ collections.
Blegen 4th Floor Lobby: The exhibit “Clifton” showcases the magazine that, according to its editor Cliff Radel, was known for “Purposefully taking a sideways look at the University and the community [that] will undoubtedly be discomforting to a great number of people who operate with fixed principles. Good.” The exhibit was created by communications design student Alixandria Wolfe, a senior DAAP student, and Melissa Cox Norris, director of library communications Learn more about Clifton magazine online via an exhibit from the Archives and Rare Books Library.
All Flags Shall Here Be Seen: Discover the World through UC Libraries Resources
“…All flags shall here be seen…” – this line from Pushkin’s “The Bronze Horseman” describing the thoughts of Peter the Great as he was envisioning St. Petersburg, comes to mind as one enters Langsam Library this summer. Flags of dozens of countries adorn the Circulation and InfoCommons desks greeting the UC Community, including nearly 3,200 international students from 110 countries. “I feel as if I were at the United Nations [Headquarters],” a colleague remarked today passing by the InfoCommons desk.
The diverse international community of students, faculty, and staff is described in the UC Academic Master Plan as “one of our richest resources.” UC Libraries’ faculty and staff are proud to be part of this community and to contribute to UC’s global engagement initiatives.
The flags proudly displayed in the library represent the richness of our collection. To help you learn about the countries where the members of the UC family come from, we’ll be featuring library resources in a semi-weekly tweet. Please feel free to share your favorite resources in your responses!

Welcome Newest Bearcats
This summer, Langsam Library was a busy place as over 4,000 incoming students participating in UC New Student Orientation visited and learned about all that UC Libraries has to offer. While here, they engaged in activities designed to be entertaining while at the same time informative about the various research resources, assistance, and library services they can take advantage of when they return in the fall.
