Rare Editions of Mark Twain's Works in ARB

Student Technology Resources Center (STRC)

STRC

The STRC is a student-centered service area located on the 4th floor of Langsam Library. This area features specialized software and equipment that enable students to work on digital assignments.

Students can create webpages, edit video and audio files, convert file formats, create CDs or DVDs, scan images, create presentations in PowerPoint or Flash, and receive assistance in preparing Electronic Theses and Dissertations. Adobe products such as PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere, and more are available.

Fall: Literary Prize Season

What do Sir Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway and Toni Morrison have in common? They were all winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature! This prize awarded by the Swedish Academy since 1901 is featured in the University of Cincinnati Libraries’ exhibit in the lobby of Langsam Library. The name of the 2010 winner, Mario Vargas Llosa, was just announced, and he is highlighted  in the exhibit along with other laureates, including the first one, the oldest and youngest laureate, and other representatives of this glorious cohort.  A selected bibliography of works by and about the Nobel Prize in Literature laureates held by the University of Cincinnati Libraries is available next to the display case. Are You Looking for Some Primary Sources?

In the library, 1950If you are looking some primary sources, try searching the OhioLINK Finding  Aid Repository.  The site contains descriptions for over 700 archival collections at 46 institutions in Ohio including large universities, small colleges, community colleges, museums, historical societies, public libraries, and special libraries.  Guides to over 200 collections at the University of Cincinnati’s Archives and Rare Books Library and the Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions are also available through this database.  Additional finding aids are added every day. RefWorks, a Bibliographic Management Tool, Adds RefShare, a New Sharing ModuleRefWorks is a Web-based personal bibliographic management service that enables users to electronically collect, manage, and organize bibliographic information and full-text articles.  RefWorks also facilitates the research report and manuscript composition process by automatically creating in-text citations, footnotes, and bibliographies in nearly 2,000 different output styles.  In short, RefWorks can save countless hours of time spent on resources management and manuscript or report production.

Summer 2010 Records Quarterly Now Available

Records Quarterly Summer 2010The Summer 2010 edition of Records Quarterly, the newsletter of University of Cincinnati Records Management, is now available on the records management website at http://www.libraries.uc.edu/libraries/arb/records_management/recordsquarterly.html. This issue features articles about the proper use of computer backups, upcoming UC electronic records management policies and procedures, and how to determine the administrative value of records.
