New Design for CECH Library Website

On May 6th, the CECH Library will unveil a newly redesigned website at a new URL. The new website is easy to read and navigate with an updated look and feel, an uncluttered homepage and streamlined navigation. User-requested features such as Today’s Hours, an enhanced location map and a prominent link to Off-Campus Access are included.

Vivid graphics, chicklets that link back to the CECH website, our NASA Educators Resource Center information and New Education Resources are prominent. Linked resources under our About, Services, Research Resources, Curriculum Resources Prek-12, and Help Tabs provide updated tools and web pages that support CECH teaching and research. Note too the direct links to key Criminal Justice, Education, Curriculum Resources, Human Services and Information Technology databases and research guides.

On May 6, we will email a link to our new CECH Library website!

Announcing a Redesigned UC Libraries Website

On May 6, the University of Cincinnati Libraries will unveil a completely redesigned website.

Available at www.libraries.uc.edu (same URL as current site) the new website is easy to read and navigate with an updated look and feel, an uncluttered homepage with most content viewable without scrolling, new information and streamlined navigation. User-requested features such as the posting of today’s hours, enhanced location maps and a prominent link to Off-Campus Access from the homepage are included in the redesign.

Paul Cauthen, Librarian in the CCM Library, Receives Honor

Paul Cauthen, Assistant Music Librarian in the Albino Gorno Memorial Music Library, is the 12th recipient of the Music OCLC Users Group’s Distinguished Service Award.

Paul received this well-deserved award for his contributions to music cataloging over the past 20 years, during which time his cataloging output was cited as being of “exceptional quality” and that his work saved fellow catalogers “literally thousands of hours.” Paul received this prestigious award at the recent MOUG/MLA conference in Atlanta in February.

Harrison Health Sciences Library was ranked 14th amongst “the 25 most impressive university medical school libraries in the world” according to The Best Master’s Degrees Reviews and Rankings, a public site that explores and ranks the vast world of Master’s degrees in all the disciplines.

Join Us for the Annual Cecil Striker Society Annual Lecture

The Henry R. Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions and the Cecil Striker Society for the History of Medicine will host the Cecil Striker Society Annual Lecture Thursday, April 10.

The evening will include a reception from 4-5 p.m with an exhibit on John Shaw Billings in the Lucas Room. At 5 p.m., Dale Smith, PhD, will present, “John Shaw Billings and the Medical College of Ohio: Shaping Twentieth Century Medicine,” in Kresge Auditorium.

A Poem in Your Pocket All Month Long

pocketpiece-01 April is National Poetry Month. In celebration of this, UC Libraries has mounted an exhibit on the fourth floor of Langsam Library celebrating poetry and poets.

Included in the exhibit is information about the Elliston Poetry Room, some Ohio poets, poets with a Cincinnati connection, and a sampling of UC poets including Armando Romero, Danielle Deulen, Don Bogen, James Cummins, John Drury and Nicasio Urbina.
