The 2016 election season is in full swing and the UCBA Library would like to help you be an informed voter. The elections display includes voting information and a variety of political books and magazines. UCBA Collection Services Manager, Christian Boyles
Welcome, Christian Boyles!
The UCBA Library team welcomes Christian Boyles as the new Collection Services Manager. Christian has over 20 years experience in libraries and comes to us from the Xavier University Library where he was the Acquisitions and Preservation Assistant.
Christian’s primary responsibility will be managing UCBA Library collection services including acquiring and cataloging library materials. You will also see him at the Information Desk providing support to students, staff and faculty.

As another fall semester gets underway, the UCBA librarians are ready to help faculty with their research needs. Whether it’s discipline-specific, creative, or a classroom-based (e.g. Scholarship of Teaching & Learning) research project, we’re getting you started with a newly updated Faculty Research Guide (guides.libraries.uc.edu/ucba-facultyresearch). You still find those resources that you know and trust, but you’ll also find new grant and data management resources along with contact information for your go-to experts (including your library faculty liaison). In addition, check out UC’s institutional repository – Scholar@UC – as well as OhioLINK’s Digital Resource Commons. As the semester moves forward, we’ll continue to add more resources.

The UCBA Library will be closing one hour early on Friday, August 5th. The library will close at 3pm to allow IT to begin re-imaging the public computers for Fall Semester. The library will reopen at noon on Monday, August 8th.

The UC Blue Ash Library is kicking off a new series called From The Desk Of… which gives you a chance to peer into our work spaces to see where the magic happens.
Instructional Technologies Librarian, Kellie Tilton has graciously opened her doors to share her workspace and favorite office items with us.
One a recent July 4th holiday visit to Chicago, Michelle McKinney, UCBA Reference and Web Services librarian, made a brief stop at the Harold Washington Library Center (HWLC) of the Chicago Pubic Library (CPL). The main branch of CPL is located on 400 S. State Street, Chicago, IL 60605 in the South Loop. The building is a site to behold. It is 10 stories high, 756,000 square feet, and takes up a full city block. Here are just a few photos from Michelle’s all-too-brief visit. UCBA Library Director, Heather Maloney and Instructional Technologies Librarian, Kellie Tilton headed to Orlando, Florida for the American Library Association Annual Conference.
Heather Maloney attended a pre-conference session on Transforming the Contributions of Student Employees in Your Library and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the passionate opening session speaker, Michael Eric Dyson. The exhibit floor was filled with the familiar and the new and probably a few too many giveaways…but how do you say no to a free book?!
Kellie Tilton spent a good chunk of time at ALA sitting in a, thankfully, air-conditioned hotel conference room for her super-secret Alex Committee meetings. She also managed to check out the fireworks at Epcot (sorry, IllumiNations) and had a blast wandering the exhibit hall. Swag she was most excited about? The Ruth Bader Ginsburg tote bag she will add to her collection.

Break hours begin Friday, April 29th through Sunday, May 8th. The library will be open Closed Saturdays and Sundays during that time and open Monday through Thursday from noon-5p and Friday from noon-4p. We will reopen Monday, May 9th under our Summer Semester hours, Monday through Thursday from 8a-6p and Friday from 8a-4p, and Closed Saturday and Sunday.
