Try your Hand at Danish Heart Weaving

A tradition in Scandinavia, people often create woven hearts to hang on the Christmas tree. But with Valentine’s Day coming up in February, we thought you might enjoy creating a plaited heart to decorate with or give to a friend.

Stop by the Clermont College Library and enjoy some mindful, hands-on crafting between classes.

Student Library Survey: Enter to Win a $25 Gift Card

Your opinions can build a better library – you just have to share them!

In order to serve you better, we invite you to participate in a 15-question survey regarding Clermont College Library facilities and services. Depending on your answers and your typing ability the survey should take 5 minutes or less to complete.

As a gesture of our thanks, you may provide your contact info at the end of the survey to enter a drawing for one of two $25 gift cards.

Together we can make the Clermont College Library a better space for resources and research.

Sincerely,

Katie Foran-Mulcahy, Library Director

Student Art by Scott Hempleman

Spring semester the Clermont College Library is pleased to exhibit the art of Scott Hempleman.  Scott’s colorful paintings stem from years of drawing fun, imaginative cartoons. Encouraged by his grandfather as well as art teachers at Clermont College, Scott’s vibrant works display a study in color relationship and contrast.

Come check out Scott Hempleman’s work in the library’s Student Art Spotlight through spring 2018.  As always, we thank Fine Arts faculty Kelly Frigard and Kim Taylor for their dedicated support of the Student Art Spotlight since 2015.

Games at the Clermont College Library

Free time between classes? Need to relax for a bit? Stop by the Clermont College Library.

We’ve set up a game table, where you can play Jenga, Battleship, or Connect Four.

Playing games helps decrease stress and can improve critical thinking. Spending time having fun may be the boost needed to get back to that research paper or clear your mind to study for a test.

As the semester winds down, take a half-an-hour and enjoy some healthy competition.

Picture Books at Clermont College Library

“Picture Book Month is an international literacy initiative that celebrates the print picture book during the month of November.” (picturebookmonth.com)

Clermont College Library has a small collection of picture books. We collect them primarily for our students in education programs. Of course, they can be checked out by all students, faculty, and staff. Picture books are one of the most valuable tools used to encourage literacy in children. Many of the picture books on our shelves reflect the international literacy initiative.

You can find the books listed below and more by searching our catalog.

Second Floor Selfies at Clermont

Clermont College Library is sponsoring a passive program to direct attention to the second floor of the library. Our second floor is the only quiet study space on campus. And we want students to know about it. Since selfies have become a fun part of society, we’re asking students to visit Clermont College library’s second floor, snap a selfie, then email the photo to penny.mcginnis@uc.edu between October 5-29. We’ll share them on Twitter and Facebook.

A random drawing will determine which student wins a $25 Amazon gift card.

We also welcome administration, faculty and staff to send a photo or post one on Twitter @ucclermontlib. We are using the #SecondFloorSelfie tag on Twitter. Check it out!

New Info Monitor in the Clermont College Library, Courtesy of BLT Department

Friends,

I’m so happy to announce that our new info monitor in the library‘s entryway has arrived.

This monitor, graciously sponsored by UC Clermont’s BLT (Business, Law, and Technology) Department, will help communicate the library’s programs and offerings with our campus community.  Best of all, it’s visible from both the hallway and from inside the library.  Plus, we  think it really brightens up the space.

Thanks, BLT! We <3 our new info monitor.

Let’s make fall 2017 a great semester, together!

Get the FACTS at Clermont College Library

Have you ever read fake news? Most of us have.

As a college student writing research papers you want the correct facts. One way to search and find facts is to use the databases available through the library and seek assistance from one of our reference librarians.

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions has some great tips for spotting fake news.

As a reminder to get your facts from reliable sources, we’re giving away FACTS t-shirts.

Sign up in the library before September 22 for a chance to win!
