DAAP Library to Host a Wiki Women Edit-A-Thon June 26

wiki women imageJoin us on Sunday, June 26th from 1pm – 7pm in the Robert A. Deshon and Karl J. Schlachter Library for Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) as we attempt to repair the gender imbalance of Wikipedia.

Inspired by the initiatives of Art + Feminism, we will be adding and editing Wikipedia pages of influential female artists, designers, architects, and interior designers. There will be free pizza (obviously) and free popcorn (duh). All are welcome! Join us for the full time, or stop by for an hour to help.

UC students Karyn Georgilis, Maggie Murphy and Hannah Sellers are all co-founders of the event as well as senior design students in DAAP.

Thanks to local sponsors: Kaleidoscope, Jack Rouse Associates, Madison Design, FRCH Design Impact, and the UC Women’s Center.

UC Libraries Research Services and IT@UC: Research Data Management Survey

In order for the University of Cincinnati Libraries (UCL) and IT@UC to provide the best research data support services, you are invited to participate in a brief survey regarding research data management, preservation, and sharing and High Performance Computing (HPC). We are interested in hearing from our faculty, staff, and students to learn what kind of data is being generated and how researchers are finding help in managing it.

Your participation will help us assess data management and HPC needs at the University of Cincinnati and will inform the coordination of services across campus, and specifically from UCL and IT@UC, to support effective data stewardship throughout the research life cycle.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Click on the following link to access the survey: UC Libraries Research Services and IT@UC: Research Data Management Survey

Quality Service Award winner

DAAP Library student assistant, Samuel Tibbs, was recently awarded the quality service award for his excellent contributions to the library. Samuel began working at the DAAP library four years ago when he was a freshman. If you frequent the DAAP Library you’ve probably seen him working at the circulation desk, answering questions, checking in and out books, and processing library material, always with a smile on his face! Thank you Samuel and congratulations!tibbsaward
