This latest issue of Source includes updates on the Libraries’ Strategic Plan, with an overview of digital humanities and news on the development of UC’s digital repository, which makes accessible, enables re-use, stores, organizes and preserves the full range of the institution’s intellectual output, including scholarly, historical and research materials. Also featured are stories about providing access to the Libraries special collections, a new exhibit highlighting the top illustrated children’s books, and the librarians, staff and students of UC Libraries giving thanks.

November 19th is GIS Day

Tim Balzer, product manager of the Cincinnati-based start-up company Roadtrippers, will discuss the history, development and future direction of their successful web-based and multi-platform app Roadtrippers.

Table Tennis Anyone? This Friday.

web carousel image table tennis final-01Attending the Table Tennis Tournament on Friday in Langsam?

The tournament playoff will be held at the Rec Center, 1st floor, Court 1 at 4pm.  When they are down to the final round, at around 5 pm,  the final four will be playing at  Langsam Library, 4th floor, against the Library team led by the Dean and University Librarian Xuemao Wang.

It is important that anyone who will attends the Rec Center game bring their UC ID for admittance.

Come and cheer on your fellow Bearcats.

Checking out an iPad at TheDesk@Langsam

In partnership with UC Student Government, UC Libraries now has iPads available for checkout by UC students.

The Desk@Langsam has 10 iPads available for checkout. Students can call to book an iPad (513) 556-1424 or visit The Desk@Langsam on the 4th floor of the Walter C. Langsam Library to request one. Booking in advance is highly recommended to ensure availability. The iPads can be checked out for five days, with one renewal if the iPad is not requested by another user.

The iPads are 16GB and Wi-Fi enabled. An Apple ID is recommended, but not required for use. The iPads are pre-loaded with several UC and other productivity apps, including UC Mobile, Mobile Learn (Canopy) and VMware View (access to UC Virtual Lab).  In addition, the iPads can be populated with personalized apps via any user Apple ID.
