Website Migration @ Clermont Library

Heads up — the Clermont College Library is migrating to a new website template on Friday, December 11th.  While our website’s address won’t change, the site may not be available for your use on Friday on an intermittent basis.

If you’re experiencing issues , please visit the UC Libraries website for access to all of your favorite library resources like Summon, Academic Search Complete, UC Library Catalog, and more.  When the new site is complete, the look and feel will be similar to other UC Libraries websites, including the Langsam Library, the Blue Ash College Library, and the Health Sciences Library.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

I’m not one to frequent dinner parties, seeing as my peers are assuredly drowning in some form of debt and being strangled by the long, drawn out sentences that fill the pages of their textbooks. However, if I were to be seated at any table of twelve, these Shakespearean dinner place cards would turn a regular dinner into a fancy party. No Pinterest expert I, but if it had existed when these cards came out, I’m sure they would have made their way to social media in a heartbeat.

These particular cards are antiques, but no one is stopping you from typing them out and printing them on fancy paper so you too can have an Elizabethan inspired night. Make your guests feel welcomed and appreciated with sentiments strung together from six of Shakespeare’s plays.

Langsam Library Has Gone to the Dogs

Take a break from your studies and come meet Dozer and Boomer, Labradors in the K-9 Unit of UC’s Public Safety Department.

Dozer and Boomer will be visiting Langsam Library on Monday and Tuesday, December 7th and 8th from 11:00 to 11:30am and 1:00 to 1:30pm both days.

Fuel Your Late-Night Studying in Langsam with Coffee and Snacks.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT! UC Libraries and Food Services have partnered to provide free coffee and snacks beginning at 10pm each night for students studying for exams in Langsam Library.

Langsam Library space will be opened 24/7 for exams beginning noon on Sunday, November 29 through 6pm Friday, December 11. Regular hours will resume Saturday, December 12.

Clermont Library Winter Break Hours

The Clermont College Library break hours from December 14-23, 2015 are as follows:

The library will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Additionally, the library will be closed for winter seasonal days:

Illustrating Shakespeare’s Plays, Part the Second – Edmund Dulac

Tempest IllustrationNot too long ago, I posted a blog focused on Arthur Rackham and his illustrations. It’s time for Part 2, this time featuring Rackham’s most worthy competition, Edmund Dulac.

A year ago, when I was asked what I thought about Edmund Dulac’s artistic style, I said, “I think his illustrations are a little darker and less whimsical than the others [Arthur Rackham and Hugh Thomson]”. However, my tastes must have changed over time. Looking through Dulac’s illustrations in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, I find myself in love with his use of color and the way he blends it so beautifully. It’s interesting to see the different styles, as well as the histories which led each artist to his renown. Continue reading →

Support the UCBA Holiday Food Drive and Reduce Your Library Fines!

Now through December 18th, donate food items for the Freestore Foodbank and reduce your library fine up to $5!

One good deed deserves another…

For each non-perishable food item brought to the UCBA LIbrary, $1 will be subtracted from library fines (up to $5).

The details:

  • The maximum fine reduction per person is $5.00.
  • Food items cannot be homemade, dented or expired.
  • Everyone may donate food even if they don’t have fines.
  • Fines will not be deducted immediately, but all adjustments within 2 business days.​
