Congratulations UC Bearcat on being named the Capital One Mascot Challenge Winner!
UC Libraries is especially proud of this victory as we played a small role in the Mascot’s success. The entry video submitted to Capitol One was produced in the STRC using the video-editing suite.
According to Wikipedia, learning something new (such as a foreign language or music), is one of the popular New Year’s resolutions in the United States. But what if you don’t have the time to enroll in a class and cannot afford a learning kit from Rosetta Stone? The good news is that the University of Cincinnati Libraries have a wonderful collection of books, media, and other resources for you to learn a new language. Our collections primarily support the language courses offered through the School of World Languages and Cultures and offer resources for learning Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian, and Swahili. We also have vast collections in the areas of German Studies and Romance Languages and Literatures. Find links to Internet and library resources and tips for finding videos and DVDs in foreign languages and/or about countries or cultures at our Language Resources page.
So if you are making a New Year’s resolution this year and you commit to learning a language and/or facts about a country or culture, the University of Cinciinati Libraries will help you to achieve your goal! Good luck!
The Albino Gorno Memorial Music (CCM) Library and Music Listening Center will be closed December 24 through January 7 so that it may move from its current location on the fourth floor of Blegen Library to its newly renovated location on the sixth floor.
UPDATE: All services have been restored.
Please note that on Saturday, December 19th from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm electric power to Langsam Library will be out for planned maintenance. This power outage will cause the UC Libraries Web site, the Library Catalog, and Interlibrary Loan services through ILLiad to be inaccessible during this time.
In addition, UCit@Langsam will be closed 5:00 am to 1:00 pm because of the power outage.

Ever wish you could take the library with you? With the aid of a library widget and toolbars now offered by the University of Cincinnati Libraries, you can take key library resources and services wherever you study or research.

OhioLINK reports: “Unfortunately we are experiencing a SAN network failure that is preventing access to multiple OhioLINK services including the Electronic Journal Center, some OSearch databases, the Digital Media Center and other services. Systems engineers are working to resolve the problem and we hope to resume service as soon as possible. We apologize for the interruption in service at this very busy time of the year.”
Looking for a place to study during exams? Langsam Library has exam hours. The hours are listed online and at the library.
And don’t forget that UCit@Langsam is open 24 hours on the 5th floor of Langsam Library. Entrance after hours is via the 5th floor lobby with a valid UC I.D.
