ClinicalKey Tour Video Available

If you missed the ClinicalKey visit last Friday November 21st, ClinicalKey has provided a 26 minute video tour showing you how to search, create a personal account, save content, move images into PowerPoint slides and more.  Click here to download a WebEx player and view the video.

A few key points to know about ClinicalKey: 

ClinicalKey is available off campus via the VPN only for UC faculty, staff, and students. 

  • If you have not installed the VPN Junos Pulse on your laptop, home computer or device, here are step-by-step instructions.
  • If you need help, please call UCit at 556-4357 or stop by the Health Sciences Library (HSL) computer lab for assistance.
  • Once installed, open the Junos Pulse client, click “Connect” and log in with your UC central log in.  Then go to ClinicalKey.

 Create a personal account or login using your Scopus personal account login to access ClinicalKey ebook content and other features.

  • Click on “Register” in the upper right corner, fill in the form, and submit.
  • Other personal account features include CME, using the presentation maker, save content to your account and more.

ClinicalKey is linked with UC’s full text journal articles.

  • Look for the UC Article Linker button when ClinicalKey does not provide the PDF full text.

Government Resources on Ebola

fdlp-emblem-colorThe U.S. Government Printing Office’s Catalog of U.S. Government Publications offers access to a variety of Federal Government information Resources on Ebola.

A wide range of information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is available, including facts about Ebola; various preparedness checklists for patients, hospitals, and healthcare coalitions; and a handout on “What you Need to Know About Ebola.”

Table Tennis Anyone? This Friday.

The tournament playoff will be held at the Rec Center, 1st floor, Court 1 at 4pm.  When they are down to the final round, at around 5 pm,  the final four will be playing at  Langsam Library, 4th floor, against the Library team led by the Dean and University Librarian Xuemao Wang.

It is important that anyone who will attends the Rec Center game bring their UC ID for admittance.

Come and cheer on your fellow Bearcats.

Need to Checkout an iPad?

Checking out an iPad at TheDesk@Langsam

In partnership with UC Student Government, UC Libraries now has iPads available for checkout by UC students.

The Desk@Langsam has 10 iPads available for checkout. Students can call to book an iPad (513) 556-1424 or visit The Desk@Langsam on the 4th floor of the Walter C. Langsam Library to request one. Booking in advance is highly recommended to ensure availability. The iPads can be checked out for five days, with one renewal if the iPad is not requested by another user.

The iPads are 16GB and Wi-Fi enabled. An Apple ID is recommended, but not required for use. The iPads are pre-loaded with several UC and other productivity apps, including UC Mobile, Mobile Learn (Canopy) and VMware View (access to UC Virtual Lab).  In addition, the iPads can be populated with personalized apps via any user Apple ID.

UC Libraries Launch Source Online

Newsletter, first published in 2002, contains the latest news and happenings from UC Libraries.

sourceUC Libraries is transforming  technology, people, space and information resources to “become the globally engaged, intellectual commons of the university – positioning ourselves as the hub of collaboration, digital innovation and scholarly endeavor on campus.”

It is in this spirit of transformation that we are changing the way in which we deliver Source to our readers. The online newsletter will still contain the latest information about the organization, people, places and happenings in UC Libraries, but will no longer be produced in print. By moving Source online, we are able to reach a greater number of readers on various devices – computers, phones, tablets and more.

Treasures of the Winkler Center: 1843 Botanico-Medical College Diploma of Dr. Henry Randolph Higgins

Through the generosity of Jerry L. Higgins, the Henry R. Winkler Center received an interesting artifact depicting Cincinnati’s rich history of institutions of medical education. This framed diploma from the Botanico-Medical College of Ohio was awarded to Jerry L. Higgins’ ancestor, Dr. Henry Randolph Higgins, and serves as the only artifact in the Winkler collection from the institution.
