Music encyclopedia MGG is now online – trial begins Feb. 1

The outstanding German music encyclopedia Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart is now online! MGG Online  includes the content of the 1994–2008 print edition of MGG as well as future updates, revisions, and additions. MGG Online is published in conjunction with RILM, which contributes its expertise to the design of the online database and the creation of a user-friendly platform. Read more. Met Opera on Demand- trial begins Jan. 31

Please explore and enjoy our trial access to Met Opera on Demand. Access to 90+ high-definition videos, 75+ classic telecasts recorded from 1977-2003, and 400+ audio performances from the Met’s Saturday matinee radio broadcasts dating back to 1935. Don’t delay! Welcome Jenny Doctor as the New Head of the CCM Library

UC Libraries is pleased to welcome Jenny Doctor as the new Head of the Albino Gorno Memorial Music (CCM) Library. With the agreement of the College-Conservatory of Music, she is also appointed with the academic title of associate professor of musicology.

Doctor comes to UC Libraries from Syracuse University where she had a joint appointment as the director of the Belfer Audio Archive with Syracuse University Libraries and associate professor in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications since 2012. Prior to that she was a reader in music at the University of York in the UK, and has also served as director of the Britten-Pears Library, a specialist music research library with close links to the British Library. Over two years ago, recruitment began for my Dean’s Advisory Council, an advisory group comprised of individuals from different industries and backgrounds with a tremendous passion for higher education and lifelong learning, global experience, digital technologies and a commitment to UC and the mission of UC Libraries.
