Lauren Wahman with Rockdale Academy students
As part of its community outreach, UCBA welcomed 5th and 6th grade students from Rockdale Academy to campus today for the UC Smiles program. The UCBA Library participates in this program by teaching library workshops to students during their day on campus. These workshops give students the opportunity to learn about a college library and tour the space.

The UCBA Library recently hosted its first faculty development event for the 2017-2018 academic year. Amy Koshoffer (UC Libraries Science Informationist) presented an information session on Data Management Plans on Monday, November 6. We had eight participants representing Allied Health, Biology, Dental Hygiene, Library, and Nursing. We appreciated Amy sharing her expertise and highlighting the valuable resources available for faculty.

The UCBA Library and the UCBA Learning & Teaching Center sponsored a RefWorks workshop on Thursday February 9. Randy Roberts (Langsam Library) brought his roadshow out to UCBA for the first time and we had 12 attendees representing a wide range of disciplines such as Nursing, Business, English, and Biology. This was a great example of libraries collaborating to help faculty learn more about one of our many resources! Thanks again Randy!

Whether it’s traveling to a library conference or other professional development opportunity or just exploring the world in our free time, we always love to scope out what’s going on in library land.
It was an easy walk to the Mackinac Island Public Library which has an incredible view of Lake Huron. It’s visiting the Library of Congress — the biggest library of them all! It’s time spent at the World War I Museum Library in Kansas City. Perhaps it’s exploring downtown Seattle and grabbing a picture of some cool architecture at the Seattle Public Library. Maybe it’s exploring history at the Boston Public Library or getting a strategy in place for the life-size chessboard at the Kansas City Public Library. And how about trekking halfway around the world to the beautiful Austrian National Library in Vienna!
We’ve seen some awesome libraries across the country and around the world, but there’s still so much to see! Where will Lauren, Michelle and Christian go next on their world library tour?
