Embase is a biomedical research database known for its comprehensive drug, medical device, and clinical information.  This hands-on class introduces the unique features and search options available in this database.

Printer and Scanner

There is a new addition to the Clermont College Library technology offerings located on the first floor. Stop by the library during open hours and try out the new multifunctional machine.

Device features:

  • An easy-to use, intuitive touch screeprinter 1n.
  • Color printing for $.35 per page.
  • Scanning to email for free, then documents can be printed using your print quota.

Ask any library staff member for additional help or for a quick tutorial on using the different features of this great new machine.

Streaming Video Pilot Program

Did you know UC Libraries is offering thousands of streaming video titles with unlimited concurrent users for classroom or independent use?  Through March 30th, UC Libraries has made available the 26,000 titles held in the Kanopy streaming video collection.  When students or faculty have accessed a title four times, a one year lease is automatically created.  Kanopy works directly with filmmakers and film distribution companies to offer award-winning collections including titles from PBS, BBC, Criterion Collection, Media Education Foundation and more.  Check it out at http://uc.kanopystreaming.com/ or by searching by title on the library website.  Contact a subject librarian with any questions http://www.libraries.uc.edu/help/subject-librarians.html

Online Resources: HSL eBook Collections

Do you know how many Health Sciences ebook collections are available through the Health Sciences Library (HSL)?  There are 15!  Some are available just to the Academic Health Center and others are available to the entire university.

eBook Collections – Features:

Most of these collections provide the opportunity to search across the entire collection or browse for a specific subject or title. Collections vary in what they include in addition to ebooks. Some include multimedia, cases, self-assessment, drug monographs, calculators and patient education while others also include journals and guidelines. Most include the option to create a personal account that provides the ability to print or email and often more. One collection, ClinicalKey requires a personal account in order to access the PDF full text of an ebook.

Best bet: use the Junos Pulse manual installation instructions NOT the automatic installation instructions.

Mythological Winged Creatures of the Sky by Mary Ann Kronoveter

Clermont College Library is pleased to bring you work from three student artists this semester, all from Professor Kelly Frigard’s Drawing II class.

Susan L. Kleine’s works examine the natural spaces near Kibbutz Ein Gedi, Israel.  These lush landscapes were based on Kleine’s travel photography using the watercolors.  Mary Ann Kronoveter’s bold pieces, entitled, “Mythological Winged Creatures of the Sky,” depict Cygnus and Phoenix.  Using watercolor, paint, and pencil Cassie Feldhaus created two large-scale works devoted to exotic birds, the lilac-breasted roller and the blue-throated passerine bird.

Stop by and view these lovely pieces anytime the library is open.  We love collaborating with the Fine Arts program to bring you Clermont College student art each term.

Scholar@UC goes to class

TEAM_BJS_final_sd_1On Thursday December 3, 2015, UC Libraries staff members of the Scholar@UC (http://scholar.uc.edu) development team Linda Newman and Thomas Scherz, digital archivist Eira Tansey and science informationist Amy Koshoffer were given a wonderful treat of requirement engineering and donuts and cookies.  We were invited to attend the final project presentations in CEAS Engineering & Computing Systems professor Dr. Nan Niu’s Requirements Engineering course (CS6027).

Clermont College Library Spring Semester Hours

The Clermont College Library Spring Semester hours from
January 11-April 28, 2016 are as follows:

The library will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am-8:00 pm and on Fridays from 7:30 am-4:00 pm. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Additionally, the library will be closed in observance of:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 18, 2016
  • Spring Break, March 21-27, 2016

Mendeley Guide & Workshops

Mendeley graphicsIn the Fall, the Chem-Bio Library held two Mendeley workshop in the Chem-Bio Library’s Collaborative Zone (503 Rieveschl Hall) , making use of the library’s new wireless displays. The workshop covered: Mendeley installation, inputting & organizing citations, generating citations & bibliographies, installing citation styles, and creating groups and sharing references.
