Course Prep Checklist for Library Materials

The Clermont College Library hopes that faculty are enjoying their summer and have had opportunities to connect with their loved ones.  As we get closer to the beginning of the fall semester (yikes!), we want to help you prepare for the semester with library resources and EZ Proxy information.  Please feel free to reach out to your liaison librarian or contact us at clermontlibrary@uc.edu.

Textbooks

Print textbooks will be available for checkout again this fall.  Students can ask at the first-floor checkout desk for the textbooks and they are available for 2 or 4 hours depending on the book.  You can fill out a course reserve request to have a textbook put on reserves.

Collection purchase requests

Contact your liaison librarian for books that you would like to see added to Clermont Library’s collection.

Modules & Videos

Library instruction video are available through the library’s Information Literacy webpage and ready-made modules are found in our Information Literacy Canvas Community

EZ Proxy

In May 2021, UC Libraries changed its proxy server which effects ALL library resource links.  This change can cause problems with accessing library materials online.  Please remember to check ALL the library materials links that are in Canvas or in any other part of your courses to see that they work.  More information on the EZ Proxy can be found at the Access Library Resources: FAQs page.

CECH Spotlight: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

CECH Spotlight highlights recommended books in the the UC College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Library.

Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe / written by by Benjamin Alire Sáenz / 2012

Celebrate Pride all summer long and read about the important stories of LGBTQ+ youth and their lives. Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe can be described as a very simple yet impactful read. Sáenz needs no intense plot twist or a plethora of characters to tell a touching and memorable story.

Follow along Ari’s coming-of-age journey as he faces struggles with loneliness, sexuality, and familial relationships, and along the way forms a special relationship with Dante, an artsy and talented swimmer he meets at the neighborhood pool. Ari and Dante live nearly opposite lives, yet are still struggling with the same issues. A perfect summer read with relatable teenage struggles, Ari & Dante is an authentic story that focuses on the small details in relationships and life, such as those ponderings about life, love, personal moments, and self-discovery.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is available from CECH Library,  as well as the OhioLINK and Search Ohio lending networks. Keep an eye out for the sequel that debuts in October!

Follow the Cincinnati Business Beat with the Business Courier!

Did you know that UC Library has a subscription to the Cincinnati Business Courier Online? The Business Courier is a weekly newspaper that covers Cincinnati business news. It also covers politics and the local economy. The weekly journal is read by more than 50,000 business professionals. The Courier also produces special reports on topics and trends of interest to the business community, including the annual compilation of Top 25 Lists called the Book of Lists.

The business courier is also a helpful research tool. It can be difficult to find information on smaller local privately owned companies. However, many times these companies are mentioned in news articles, top 25 lists, and executive’s profiles. It can also be searched to find out local industry trends and the local laws and regulations that are impacting business. Try searching for local companies like Skyline or Rhinegeist and see what you can find compared to other company databases!

UC affiliates can access the full online version of the Cincinnati business courier through the library website. To find out more on how to access and search the Business Courier as well as where to find the Book of Lists check out this research guide.
